2) Don’t let the Wolves of Orboros ambush onto anything. 1) Kill Lord of the Feast, who Nathan placed forward I think in a move to incite my right side Railless to come forward. Lukas gets a juice token, which makes him FOCUS six.

Ghetorix puts up Spiny and Tramples forward. Krueger casts Lightning Blade on the Feral. On the right side of the board, Lord of the Feast and the Blackclad make eyes at the flag. The Reeves advance such that I cannot deviate Railless Scathers onto them. Tanith puts Admonition on Ghetorix and Scything Touch on Loki. The Death Wolves, a Blackclad, and Loki all go and huddle behind the Forest on the left. Shortly after taking this picture, I realized that my Trancers were hanging out in the middle of the table and promptly deployed them on the AD line. The back line is Crucible Guard Mechanik, Alyce, Ascendant Mentalist and Prospero. I deployed the Railless on either side of the scenario - which according to Brandon’s post event overview is a mistake - and then left to right on the front line it goes Ace, Liberator, Vindicator, Lukas, Thamarite Archon, Suppressor, Retaliator, Stinger, Ace. I chose the Pathfinder objective and Nathan picked the anti Knock Down objective to protect a bit from Force Hammer. Ultimately, I was fairly certain that the piece of Windswept Quicksand in the middle of the table was going to matter a lot more than anything else on the board (including the models), and its central position was similar from both sides. I gave him the side of the table with the obstruction in the zone as I did not want to deal with moving my Railless around that. Nathan ultimately dropped Tanith - which surprised me somewhat - and promptly won the roll off for first.

The scenario largely agreed, as Bunkers is much better for the solo and battlegroup dense Lukas list than it is for the waves of Medium Infantry. With a pair of casters that could easily control Gearhart’s infantry, it meant that I needed to drop Lukas. Vulcan - PC: 35 (Battlegroup Points Used: 30)įailed Experiments - Leader & 4 Grunts: 14Ĭrucible Guard Assault Troopers - Leader & 2 Grunts: 8ĭragon's Breath Rocket - Gunner & 2 Grunts: 4įor round one I found myself paired against the very kind Nathan, who was rocking a Circle pairing of Tanith in Wild Hunt and Krueger 2 in Secret Masters. Marshal General Baldwin Gearhart - WJ: +30 My pairing, for reference, is this set of excellent lists kindly provided by Brandon O. With that preparation, and after a fairly brutal drive over a snowy mountain, I made my way to Bellingham to roll the dice. I also made sure I understood exactly how the juicing mechanic worked for Lukas, and knew what his spells did. I was able to go through the whole list and make attack sequences with most of the models against a couple of statlines, physically rolling the dice to make that memorization easier. Podcast night and then packing for the trip over the mountains for the event itself took priority, and ultimately I ended up doing a tiny fraction of the practicing with Lukas than I did with Gearhart. Those articles can be found here, here, and here, and I had initially intended to do a fourth piece about practicing with Lukas but unfortunately the practice never materialized. My premise was simple - I have played primarily Brawlmachine for the last 18 months and Crucible Guard is the only faction that I have never played, and that means I need practice to approach the level of play that I would be comfortable with in an event.
#BATTLE GROUP WARMACHINE SERIES#
Last week, I kicked off a short series about preparing for a tournament.
