He was wearing the 9th Infantry Division patch as his affiliation/assignment (left shoulder), and his Distinctive Unit Insignia (left and right shoulder straps) are the true crests of the 2/47. Out of curiosity I also looked up his picture in the Class A Uniform from the DC rally scene, and another detail is that 2/47 written on his helmet as a unit assignment is actually accurate to all of his affiliation insignia on his Class A Uniform (movie detail here is the consistency). Here’s my old background comment:Ģnd Battalion, 47th Infantry Regiment. Last time this detail came up it was that his helmet cover had an accurate unit identifier to a unit that served in Vietnam in the same time period as the movie.
